This type of product is very similar to the ‘seminato veneziano’ floor mosaic, known since Roman times.
It originated in Venice at the end of the 15th century from the ancient and noble art of the terrazzo maker.
This floor is made of lime with the addition of marble chips, all agglomerated to form a single homogenous surface: the terrazzo slab. When talking about Venetian slabs, there are two prevailing working techniques: dry and wet. Actually, only the wet technique respects the ancient art of Venetian tradition and is called terrazzo.
